In the disco smash “Good Times” by Chic, their attention turns to what time it might be appropriate to begin actually having a Good Time. “Let's get together – how 'bouta quarter to ten?” they sing. I don't know much about New York's Studio 54 – I was only 5 in 1976 and hadn't been further from home than Ulverston – but I'd imagine that the action there probably wouldn't REALLY get going until the early hours of the morning. In which case, getting together at 9.45pm might mean that Chic end up getting way too pissed on cheap lager before the heights of disco-fever are being scaled. You'd have thought they'd be a bit more responsible, what with being pop stars and all. Personally, I find 9.45pm a perfectly decent time to get together, because unless your local publican has applied for a late license – or he's having a lock in – you know you're going to be tucked up in bed by midnight. Which brings me to the poll. I have used the 24 hour clock.
