I moan when I’m bored, and I moan when I’m busy. What a repulsive individual I’ve become. Anyway, I’m into my last week of blogs at the Radio Times, the Independent blog continues its relentless pace, and that’s basically why I haven’t posted here. I do have a life, honestly – at the weekend I travelled to Llangadog, in deepest Wales, and met a bloke called Geraint who was monumentally pissed and went to a nightclub wearing wellies – but I only seem to have time to plan the life, and live the life, and then not really write about the life. Not that it’s anyone’s loss except my own, when I eventually come to write my blockbusting autobiography and wonder what the f*ck happened in October and November 2007.
Anyway, December’s looking even more hectic. I’m taking part in three gigs, which I’d like to urge you to attend if you possibly can. On Wednesday 12th December, I’m playing keyboards with The Keith John Adams at The Luminaire in beautiful, beautiful Kilburn. Two days later, on Friday 14th, I realise the ambition of a lifetime by being the keybord player in Frank Sidebottom’s Oh Blimey Big Band for his Christmas panto at the Bull & Gate. I’ve just been told that Frank’s going to make me dress up, which I WASN’T told when I agreed to do it. And three days after that, I’m playing keyboards at Scritti Politti’s Christmas party, again at the Luminaire, which appears to be sold out, which is scary.
God knows when I’m going to get all the rehearsing done.
