Diana Ross

I read an interesting extract from the Chic biography in the newspaper at the weekend. One paragraph revealed how furious Nile Rodgers was at the mess that Motown made of the mix of the Diana Ross album “Diana”, which he and Bernard had slaved over. I went back and listened to “Upside Down”. The verses contain the hilarious line:

Respectfully I say to thee
I'm aware that you're cheating

This kept me giggling for several minutes. Thee. I mean, for goodness sake. THEE.

I would have enjoyed it if Edwin Starr had sung

War! Zounds! What art thou good for?
