I'll tell you MY bloody problem with “Going Underground” (P. Weller).

I've always, always heard the tune of the verse like this (excuse the oompah midi style, it's to make the point.) On the original, bass and drums on the 1st and 3rd beats. Note the position of the bar lines.

Whereas I've discovered, after hearing that rubbish piano version done by two doctors, that it's actually like this, i.e. the bass and drums are on the offbeats of the original.

This distresses me. I can't get my head around it. Going Underground is hard wired into my brain as having a 3/4 bar before going into “Something's happening here today…”

Do any other people have this problem? No. Oh, OK then.
