pride

After whining on here the other day about how I'd barely won any awards in my life, my mother scanned and sent me this:

I don't really think it counts. I'm certain that everyone in the school got one, with the number of stars being commesurate with ones athletic skill. And as I don't even drive, Esso's feeble attempt at inducing brand loyalty in me at the age of 10 was utterly wasted. And they've been swallowed up by Exxon-Mobil in any case.

I was lucky to get 2 stars, really. Edward Leigh, cross country running star and American football fan (strange in 1982) would have received 5 without a doubt. I could throw a discus a hell of a long way, which probably marked me apart from the John Chambers of this world, who could barely find their way out of the changing room, and probably received one star, coloured in red, meaning DANGER.

So, I restate my original message of determination. Must secure nominations for more awards.
